 GPSToday, now with GeoGroups
|
Installing GPSToday transforms your mobile device into a powerful contextual location aware tool. Simply put, it does things that no other GPS app does today. Discover a new way to manage and view your address book, always know your current street address, exchange locations with friends with zero hassle, co-ordinate meeting places easily, geotag pictures automatically, enjoy automatic weather updates based on your current location, saved local searches, fully draggable online maps, cellphone tower based geo-location, the list goes on. And now with GeoGroups(New!), realize even more with the full benefits of geosocial networking.
June 30, 2009: Version 0.9.9.8 released New!
- Driving/Walking Directions in many countries, with traffic-optimization option
- Location Tracking and sharing(GeoLocation). Track your location history online for your ow
n private use, or share with friends/family. The power-saving ability of GPSToday means you can leave it on indefi
nitely without worrying about the battery.
- GeoAlerts! Get notified whenever specific users are nearby, or go too far away. Have your device vibrate whenever a nearby weather-alert is issued. Automatically run arbitrary scripts when you arrive at work or leave your home.
- Easily and privately (or publicly) share points-of-interest, pictures, messages with like-mind
ed folks (GeoGroups). eg. Track or update swine-flu locations, right from your phone. The possibilities are endless.
- Log file plotting on map and animated "playback". The Geologger will never clip
corners, and will perfectly follow loopy highway ramps. You can now also upload your log-files to the desktop webs
ite and export to GPX format.(more full-featured log-editing on the desktop coming soon)
- Screen-Off. GPSToday can now wakeup the device at fix intervals without turning the touch-screen on, so as to prevent accidental screen taps. There is also a handy Screen-Off option in the menu.
- Comment and vote on geoposts. Report comments as offensive.
- Now you can embed your location in private messages to other members.
- Easily post to twitter from within the app
- Get support from within the app
- 'Slideshow' through all your address-book contacts on the map, or through driving directi
ons, or local search results, or all friends' mobile locations
- Satellite,Hybrid map views, and many more enhancements for ease of use.
- Nearly worldwide support for many features that were previously US only.
- Essentially the works, all in a still small package.

Comment by user viewing the Raid-de-Himalaya event: Interesting day, It was like, watching some live F1 race. Thanks to GeoTerresTrial
Comment from organizers of the Raid-de-Himalaya: As cars broke down or were otherwise stopped on stages the GeoTerrestrial Tracker showed them on the satellite maps. Not once did the rally have to stop to search for cars that were "lost on stage".When the Air Force Team (Car # 30) lost their way to Stage 3 and instead headed off on a different tangent the GeoTerrestrial Tracking System fitted on all the Xtreme cars was a boon.
